Philippe, born in Bordeaux on June the 22nd, 1952, married and father of three children, breaks brutally with his existence of worker confectioner at the age of 24, to dedicate himself to the creation (paintings and sculptures essentially). Without artistic training, he is going to invent his art from top to bottom.
During 8 years, alone in his studio, he paints with doggedness, seeing only very few artists and close friends; nevertheless, his works interests: some art lovers ask him to exhibit his works. Notably among them, J. Pierre Roche, director of the gallery EMERGENCES in Bordeaux, who loves fervently his works, exhibits him many times, contributing to his success in the southwest of France. Of the same, Guy Lafargue who manages the ART CRU (Raw Art) gallery in Auch.
In 1985, his exhibition at the Museum of the Mount Carmel in Libourne meets an enormous success which amazes and encourages him as well ; A success which is renewed the following year with " Art Objet " in Angouleme.
At the end of 1985, first contact with Ceres Franco at "l'œil de Bœuf" gallery in Paris. It is under his impulse that he exhibits at the "70 polychromatic Sculptures" organized by the Dr. FRAISSEIX at Eymoutiers in august 1986.
In the same year, he is chosen by the "Theatre Translatique" manager, Francois MAUGET, to create the Mario Vargas Llosa play "La demoiselle de Tacna" sets. The play is presented on April 27th 1987 at the Andre Malraux center in Bordeaux.
It is in 1987 as well that he emigrates to the North of France with his 3 children, to join his new companion in Douai, where he lives for some time. His work quickly makes him known beyond the borders, notably with the very controversial fresco which he made in a 11th Century Church at Flines-Lez-Raches, near Douai.
His raids in Belgium (Museum of Modern Art in Mons, International Art Fair of Gant in 1991-92), and in Switzerland (International Fair of Contemporary Art in Geneva in May, 1992) do not prevent him to participate actively in the various artistic manifestations of the capital as the "Salon de mai" (May Show) in 1989 and 1991 or "Figuration critique" in 1987-1990-1991, which lead him to exhibit in Moscow, Leningrad and Copenhagen, increasing artistic success that "Decouvertes" (Discoveries) in February, 1993, at the Grand Palais, only confirms.
In Evreux, Philippe Aini experiments a new way of expression : the moulding of human bodies. He makes a full set of sculptures (the bathroom) and relief paintings, very appreciated in the Jean-Claude Riedel gallery in Paris.
In 1998, he leaves for Guadeloupe. But as he couldn't express freely there, he gets back to continental France where the Oissel mayor, Thierry Foucaud, welcomes him generously. After this choice of returning, the creation, in spite of the doubt, didn't leave him and he continues to investigate its meanders (ceramics, paintings).
He writes a play, the stage setting of which he makes around his decorations: "Sein Syphoniquement" , which is played for the last spring of the century at the Theater Moliere in Bordeaux. After the "Carrousel du Louvre", La Maison Aini opens in Paris and his works of big size find their place there permanently. The foreigner seeks him more and more (Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and the USA).
2000 is the year of creation of the ainipainting.com website. The Internet and the multimedia are new supports of creation that he wants to investigate thanks to the help of Oueb, original website creator.
In 2001, after an exhibition of ceramics in 2000, a bronze entitled "Je t'aime" (I love you) is created.
2002 marks his passage in New York, where he gets a huge success at the Outsider Art Fair, passage that will lead to new exhibitions in the U.S.A. with Gramercy 32 Fine Arts Gallery: For a few months he will rent an artist studio in Brooklyn. Isolated from everything, he will find his alphabet, his new writing. The exhibition was a great success. The following year 2003, Brigitte Saint-Ouen and Philippe Aini held another exhibition at Gramercy 32 Fine Arts Gallery that included dreamlike paintings and a fabulous fashion show. This performance was an interesting and exciting combination of both manequins and live models in painted developing costume.
An exhibitions in 2003 in Miami will encourage his hermit course, and, coming back to France, he will exhibit in September of 2003, at the les Singuliers Gallery: "Evolution echangeante". His painting evolves and changes in colours too. The flock paste, refined to an extreme verticality, accompanies with happiness the voluble writing of the painter. His always same vision, fantastic, attaching, of the Humanity torn of all the centuries, brightens with colours. Those does not hide the certain drama of life but widens it : the space becomes beyond.ART FAIR - Chicago - May 2007 - Inuit and Outsider Art Fair -{same time} Chicago Art Fair
